When I researched the history of the circus I always thought it was the Ringling brothers or Barnum and Bailey were the founders of the first circus but I was sadly mistaken. It turns out it originates from early Ancient Rome times.
A typical circus was in an oval or circular showground with seats around the edges of the showground. Trained exotic animals, jugglers and acrobats wowed the crowds.
England embraced circus performances in London, where the first one they think took place in 1768. is believed to have taken place on January 9th, 1768. It is believed that gypsies made it possible as they travelled from town to town.
Halloween does NOT have to be expensive- here are some costume ideas.
If you have been invited to a Halloween party at the last minute or trying to find some cheap/inexpensive costumes we have some great ideas for you. Just look up your local thrift store, go early as it is a popular place at Halloween to find cheap and inexpensive costumes.
HOBO costume: Buy an old suit and sew a few patches on the knees and elbows. Then for just a few dollars you can add some accessories like Hobo cigar find a long stick and tie a cloth around it and stuff it with old clothes. Just add make up and you are all set. The finished look should resemble this photo.
Bride of Dracula or Horror Bride
All thrift stores have old wedding dresses. For bride of Dracula you would need some Halloween colored spray in black and white (not recommended for people who have color treated hair) or add a wig or veil. You can spray paint the wedding dress as well but use with caution in a very well ventilated area the fumes are quite strong.
Corpse bride veil
Baseball player football player, or golfer – if you play any of these sports just wear that outfit. If it is old you can make a horror version by adding blood, football player get some grass and mud stains on it. For the golfer you can go to a gimmick store and buy a golf club strapped to your head (looks like someone crowned you with it) and add blood. Or if you are interested in an old timers baseball uniform.
Cowboy or cowgirl: blue jeans, checkered shirt grab your cowboy hat and go (try to buy a straw hat in the summer and save for Halloween. For women tall boots, cowboy hat, short skirt and pop gun from the dollar store. This photo is an Annie Oakley version of a cowgirl.
Pregnant woman (add a father for a shotgun wedding) This one is easy ladies, find some maternity clothes add stuffing and your all set.
Raining cats and dogs: This one is hilarious as you only have to carry an umbrella with stuffed dogs and cats hanging from it.
Blues Brothers or Men in Black Costume: all you need for these costumes is hair slicked back, hat, dark sunglasses and a black or dark suit.
CD Burner? Very simple just put a hole in a CD and tie string through it and wear like a necklace and carry a lighter (CD burner get it?) You need people to guess these kinds of costumes
Construction Worker Costume: Buy an old shirt or get one at the thrift store, add some workboots, one of those strap on work belts and put in some hand tools, hard hat, workgloves and your all set.
Static cling: Buy an old shirt for this one and glue socks, hankies, dryer sheets etc and go as Static cling.
